LEAP ACADEMY
AGES 5 & UP

LEAP Academy Logo

Our LEAP Academy is for our dancers who age out of the Freckled Frog program. LEAP Academy dancers have choices to take hour-length classes in many forms of dance from ballet, jazz, tap, acrobatic arts, and hip hop. We want children to be well rounded dancers and enjoy multiple styles of dance so we offer discounts on multiple classes. LEAP Academy is where children can dance recreationally or if they'd like, try out for our competition teams and take their dance to the next level. LEAP Classes start at age 5.

We believe that Dance instruction should be enjoyable, built on a solid technical foundation, inspire creativity, and match each individual's goals.

Our studio is family owned and we have a no bare mid-drift policy and no suggestive movements. Classes will never be overcrowded, allowing each child to get personal attention from the instructor.

Ballet

Ballet is where most dancers begin their dance career. It is the fundamental style with which all other styles are built off of. As dancers grow in age and talent, they may want to branch out into other forms of dance, but ballet must still be present in their training. It is the backbone of every great dancer's career which is why it is extremely important in our LEAP students' dance lives.

Primary Ballet is the beginning level of Ballet.

Jazz

Jazz dancing is high energy and upbeat. It is a combination of several styles of dance and uses the foundation steps of ballet in a more stylized manner. In classes, students will work on jazz fundamentals such as turns, leaps, and flexibility. They will work on pieces to perform at recitals and can work their way up to audition for our jazz competition teams.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a dance style that embodies various aspects of balletjazzacrobatics, and modern dance. Lyrical dance is a dance style that blends elements of ballet and jazz dance. Lyrical dance is generally a little more fluid than ballet and also somewhat faster -- although not as rapidly executed as jazz dance.

Born Wild Tap Dance Group

TAP

Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. At our studio, we begin training dancers in tap at age 2 and continue it all through the Freckled Frog program. This way, by the time they reach the LEAP academy they already have a basic understanding of the style. Through LEAP they can join hour long classes dedicated wholly to tap technique so they can grow as tap dancers.

Competition Teams

The competition team is about motivating young minds to be the best that they can be. This special program is designed for dancers who strive to accomplish a higher level of dance training than just a recreational dancer. To us it's not just about dance education; it's total education. Team dancers learn life skills through performances, working as a team, and accomplishing goals for themselves throughout the year. Performances include community events, competitions, and being showcased at recitals. All participants are part of a wonderful team of friends, all of whom are striving to be the best they can be. Competition season usually runs from February through May. Auditions for upcoming seasons are held in July.

What makes our teams different:

  • We focus on technique - not just tricks

  • We teach children teamwork and the value of working hard to acomplish goal

  • We provide each student with personalized attention

  • We do not allow bare midriffs

  • We stay away from suggestive movements

  • We focus on a family friendly enviroment

  • Our teachers are positive, motivating, and bring out the best in each child.
